LIBRARY EXPERIENCE

Audiovisual Director and Webmaster, Danville Public Library, Danville, IL, 2000-present.

  • Direct active Audiovisual Department, including collection management and marketing of nonprint formats (DVD, CD, CD-ROM, video- and audiocassette, downloadable and streaming media, Playaway digital media) and audiovisual print reference.  Highlights include increasing AV circulation; improving access to collection; expanding collections (audiobooks 300%, music 75%, video 75%); and establishing first DVD collection in Lincoln Trail consortium.
  • Created and maintain library website Highlights include creation of numerous pathfinders about famous Danville natives; and online exhibits.
  • Collaborate with Administration to implement library policies and plan long-term goals.  Highlights include spearheading Strategic Planning process; planning and presenting staff workshops. 
  • Plan and run library programs.  Highlights include Great Books to Great Films year-long book/movie series; World War II: Vermilion County Stories film premiere/panel discussion; Gene Hackman Book Signing; Teen Videogaming Competitions; Viewing/Discussion programs "From Rosie to Roosevelt" and "Fast Forward."
  • Successful grant-writing and fundraising.  Highlights include grants outfitting library meeting room with multimedia equipment; publicity for Library Foundation's Technology Endowment Campaign.
